Back Packing the TCT, Video by ADK Woods Walker

One of our members and three friends backpacked the entire Taconic Crest Trail earlier this summer. He created four videos of the adventures and posted them on YouTube. Here is the link: ADK Woods Walker - YouTube  Pick a rainy day (there are plenty this summer) and enjoy a virtual trek on the TCT.  You get to watch while they do all the sweating!  It’s a visually interesting and colorful overview of the whole trail, hiked from north to south. He covers everything from the preplanning, challenges, stoveless meals, adventure, beautiful scenery, views, as well as the fun along the way. The narrator is an amiable companion for your YouTube journey.  It’s not often you get to do the whole Crest Trail in one sitting!  Planning for adequate water was a major challenge for them  since there are only two reliable water sources.  See how they addressed that challenge. Enjoy all four short videos: Steep Ascents, Misery Mountain, Fields of Ferns and the last - A Dream Come True.

If you have ever hiked any of the TCT you will appreciate seeing areas you recognize, the exertion on the steep ascents and how they planned for the adventure! If you have never hiked it, you can see why you should!
