THC News January 2019

New Website

We start 2019 with a new, modern website! Check it out at taconichikingclub.org

Linkage will soon be added to allow people to apply for membership and pay renewal dues on-line via PayPal. The website is fully functional on iPhones, iPads, lap tops and desktop computers. The site allows us to archive quarterly bulletins and other documents.

Navigation is simple! From the home page you can scroll down to find new pages and/or you can place your curser over the “About” link for a drop down menu. There are also links at the bottom of each page. Click on the “News” link on the Home page to find the current bulletin and other news updates.

Many thanks to Peter Pierson of Grafton Web Sites and the Web Committee members: Martha Waldman, Leslie Siegard and Cliff Prewencki for all the efforts they have and will be putting into this new website.

2018 by the numbers

In 2018 our trail workers logged 534 hours for trail work on the TCT and some of the access trails. This is highly commendable considering the snow hung on until late April, the summer had some brutally hot days and winter arrived in early November!

Our outings leaders led about 50 outings. Thank you to all trail stewards, trail workers and outings leaders!

Our membership grew by almost 90 people! Some of these eager new members have already helped with trail work and others have volunteered to lead outings in 2019. Many thanks to Karen Ross for her recruiting efforts!

With the increase in enthusiastic members we plan to provide a greater variety and number of outings, as well as do more to protect and maintain the trail in the 2019.

If you have not submitted your renewal dues yet, submit your $10 check ($5.00 if under 18) payable to “Taconic Hiking Club” to:
